A quick honesty note: you’ll sometimes see November described elsewhere as an “auspicious” or “sacred” month for Umrah. It isn’t, in the sense that matters  the Islamic calendar is lunar, so it shifts against the Gregorian calendar every year and doesn’t line up with fixed months like November. What genuinely makes November worth considering is simply the weather, the crowds, and the timing against the UK’s own calendar  and that’s a good enough reason on its own.

• 3-star suits pilgrims happy to walk a bit further for a lower price  clean, comfortable rooms, breakfast, and shared coach transport.

• 4-star steps up to half-board meals and a closer or better-standard hotel, with a guide on hand if you’d like support through the rituals.

• 5-star is the most restful option: full-board meals, private transport instead of shared coaches, and hotels typically a very short walk from the Haram  worth the extra if you’re travelling with elderly relatives or simply prefer more comfort.

A 14-Night November Itinerary, Day by Day

1. Day 1–2: Fly from the UK to Jeddah or Madinah, then transfer to your hotel and settle in.

2. Day 3–7: Base yourself in Madinah  the Prophet’s Mosque, the Rawdah, and day trips to Quba Mosque, Mount Uhud, and the Qiblatain Mosque.

3. Day 8: Coach transfer from Madinah to Makkah, included in your package.

4. Day 8–9: Perform Umrah  Ihram before the Miqat, Tawaf around the Kaaba, Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, then Halq or Taqsir to complete the rituals.

5. Day 10–13: Free days for repeat visits to the Haram (early morning is especially calm in November), rest, and time to explore Makkah beyond the core rituals.

6. Day 14: Transfer to the airport and fly home.

The Rituals, Briefly Explained

1. Ihram: Entering a state of purity and intention before the boundary near the holy cities; men wear two plain white unstitched cloths, women wear modest, plain clothing.

2. Tawaf: Walking around the Kaaba seven times.

3. Sa’i: Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.

4. Halq or Taqsir: Men shave or trim their hair, women trim a small portion, completing the rituals.
