One quick note before we go further: you’ll sometimes see October described as a “sacred month” in the Islamic calendar. That’s not accurate  the Islamic calendar is lunar and shifts by around 10–11 days earlier each Gregorian year, so there’s no fixed Islamic significance tied to October specifically. What October does reliably offer is good weather and a quieter Haram, and that’s reason enough on its own.

• The heat has broken: By October, Saudi Arabia has moved well past its summer peak, making it far more comfortable to spend long stretches at the mosque.

• You’re between peak seasons: October sits clear of both Ramadan and Hajj, so you avoid the biggest crowds of the year without waiting for the busy winter months either.

• No school holiday pressure: With term time underway, October suits couples, retirees, and anyone seeking cheap Umrah packages without needing to plan around school holidays.

• Autumn pricing tends to be gentler: Demand is lower than in December or during Ramadan, which usually keeps hotel and package rates more reasonable.

What the Weather Is Really Like

October is genuinely one of the more pleasant months to travel. Daytime temperatures typically sit in the low-to-mid 30s°C, cooling further as the month goes on, with evenings noticeably more comfortable than anything you’d get in summer. It’s still warm enough to dress lightly and carry water, but it’s a world away from July Umrah packages or August Umrah packages. If comfort is your main priority, October and November are usually the two months we’d point people toward first.

3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star | Which One’s Right for You?

• 3-star is the practical choice if you’re happy to walk a little further to the Haram in exchange for a lower price  a clean, comfortable base with breakfast and coach transport included.

• 4-star adds half-board meals, a closer or better-standard hotel, and guided support if you’d like help understanding the rituals as you go.

• 5-star is built for comfort: full-board meals, private transport rather than shared coaches, and hotels that are typically a very short walk from the mosque  worth considering if you’re travelling with elderly relatives or simply want a more restful trip.

A Sample 7-Night October Itinerary

1. Day 1: Depart the UK and fly into Jeddah or Madinah.

2. Day 2–3: Settle into Madinah, visiting the Prophet’s Mosque and taking in nearby sites like Quba Mosque and Mount Uhud.

3. Day 4: Travel by coach to Makkah, included as part of your package.

4. Day 4–5: Perform Umrah  Ihram, Tawaf around the Kaaba, Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and Halq or Taqsir to complete the rituals.

5. Day 6: Free time for further visits to the Haram, rest, or local shopping.

6. Day 7: Transfer to the airport and fly home.

First Time Performing Umrah? Here’s What Actually Happens

1. Ihram: Before crossing the boundary near the holy cities, you enter Ihram: men in two plain white unstitched cloths, women in modest, plain clothing, both with a clear intention to perform Umrah.

2. Tawaf: Walking around the Kaaba seven times.

3. Sa’i: Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.

4. Halq or Taqsir: Men shave (Halq) or trim (Taqsir) their hair; women trim a small portion, marking the end of Umrah.

Getting Your Visa Sorted

Your Umrah visa is included and arranged for you  you won’t need to apply separately. In practice, this just means sending us your passport details and a passport photo when you book; we handle the paperwork from there and flag anything else needed well ahead of your travel date. Packing for an October Trip

• Documents: Passport valid 6+ months beyond travel, booking confirmation, visa details, travel insurance papers

• Clothing: Ihram for men, modest comfortable wear for women, easy slip-on shoes, and a light layer for cooler evenings and air-conditioned rooms

• Health: Any prescribed medication with a copy of the prescription, sunscreen, a refillable water bottle

• Money: A mix of cash and card  cards work in most hotels and larger shops, cash is handy for smaller vendors near the Haram
