September Umrah Packages 2026 | From the UK
If you’ve been putting off Umrah until the summer heat calms down, September is usually the sweet spot. It comes right after the busiest and hottest stretch of the year, so you get milder weather, thinner crowds, and often better prices than you’d find in winter or during Ramadan. At Hajj Umrah Travels, we arrange September Umrah packages from cities across the UK, with your flights, hotel, transport and visa handled from start to finish.

What Makes September Stand Out
Every month has its own trade-offs, and September’s are worth knowing before you book:
The heat is easing off: July and August Umrah packages cover the hottest stretch in Saudi Arabia. By September, temperatures start to come down, which makes a real difference if you’re spending long hours at the mosque.
The rush has died down: Ramadan and Hajj season bring huge numbers of pilgrims. September isn’t one of those peaks, so you’re more likely to get closer access at the Haram and shorter waits generally.
Term time works in your favor: With schools back, September tends to suit couples, retirees, and anyone seeking cheap Umrah packages without needing to fit around school holidays.
Rates can be kinder to your budget: Lower demand than winter or Ramadan often means more competitive hotel and package pricing.
Weather Through September, Week by Week
September isn’t a single flat month of weather it shifts as it goes on:
Early September still carries some of August’s intensity, with daytime highs often in the low-to-mid 40s°C in Makkah, dropping slightly in Madinah.
Mid-September starts to ease, typically settling into the high 30s°C during the day.
Late September is the most comfortable stretch of the month, with daytime highs commonly in the mid-to-high 30s°C and noticeably cooler evenings, especially in Madinah.
Humidity is generally low inland (Makkah and Madinah aren’t coastal cities), which makes the heat more bearable than it sounds on paper. Every mosque, hotel, and transport vehicle you’ll use is air-conditioned, so in practice the heat mostly affects the short walks between them arrivals, transfers, and the walk from your hotel to the Haram. If you can, booking for the second half of September tends to give you the most comfortable balance of weather and price.

Every package above covers your return flights, hotel stay in Makkah and Madinah, ground transport between the two cities, airport transfers, and visa processing so the price you see is the full picture, not a starting point with extras bolted on later. You can review our detailed breakdown on Umrah package costs to see how budget allocations work across accommodation and transfers.
What Actually Changes Between 3, 4, and 5-Star
The rituals and route are the same whichever package you choose the difference is comfort:
3-star gets you a clean, functional hotel within reasonable walking distance of the Haram, daily breakfast, and shared coach transport. It suits pilgrims who’ll spend most of their time at the mosque anyway and don’t need extra comforts.
4-star adds a better standard of room, half-board meals, and usually a closer or more comfortable hotel, plus a guide to support first-timers through the rituals.
5-star steps up again with full-board meals, private transport instead of shared coaches, and hotels that are typically a very short walk sometimes a direct view from the mosque itself, along with more personalized support throughout.
If mobility, age, or simply wanting a more restful trip is a factor, the jump to 4 or 5-star is usually felt most in how close you are to the Haram and how much walking you save.
A Day-by-Day Look at a 10 Night Trip
Every itinerary can be adjusted, but here’s how a typical 10-night September package tends to run:
Day 1–2: Fly from the UK, land in Madinah, transfer to your hotel and settle in after the journey.
Day 3–5: Spend your time in Madinah visiting the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi), the Rawdah, and nearby sites such as Quba Mosque, Mount Uhud, and the Qiblatain Mosque.
Day 6: Travel by coach from Madinah to Makkah a journey of a few hours, included in your package.
Day 6–7: Enter the state of Ihram before reaching the Miqat boundary, then perform Umrah on arrival in Makkah: Tawaf (circling the Kaaba seven times), Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwah), and Halq or Taqsir (hair cutting/trimming) to complete the rituals.
Day 8–9: Free time for repeat visits to the Haram early morning and late evening tend to be quieter and cooler along with rest, shopping, and optional visits to sites like Jabal al-Noor or the Makkah museums.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport and fly home.
A 7 nights 3 star Umrah package follows the same structure compressed into a shorter stay, while a 14 nights 5 star Umrah package simply gives you more free time in both cities without changing what’s involved. Want to extend your pilgrimage? Consider our 10 nights 4 star Umrah plus Dubai package for a multi-city stopover.
The Umrah Rituals, Explained Simply
If it’s your first time, the process is more straightforward than it might sound:
Ihram: Before reaching the boundary around the holy cities (the Miqat), you enter a state of Ihram: a state of purity and intention, with men wearing two simple white unstitched cloths and women wearing modest, plain clothing.
Tawaf: On arrival at the Kaaba in Makkah, you walk around it seven times in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sa’i: You then walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, re-enacting Hajar’s search for water.
Halq or Taqsir: Men either shave their head (Halq) or trim their hair (Taqsir); women trim a small amount of hair. This marks the completion of Umrah.
Our guides are on hand throughout to walk you through each step if you’re new to it, so you’re never left unsure of what to do next.

Travelling as a Family or Group
September works well for families and groups quieter crowds make it easier to keep an eye on children or elderly relatives, and hotels are generally easier to book in adjoining or nearby rooms than during peak season. If you are taking young children, review our guide on how to travel to Makkah with children.
If you’re travelling as a group of six or more, let us know when you enquire group bookings often unlock better per-person rates, and we can usually keep everyone on the same flights and in the same hotel.
Travel Insurance
While not included in the package price, travel insurance is strongly recommended for any Umrah trip, covering things like medical treatment abroad, cancellations, and lost luggage. If you don’t already have a policy, ask our team when you book and we can point you toward suitable providers.
Beyond the Rituals: Places Worth Visiting
Many pilgrims build in time to visit historical and religious sites beyond the core Umrah rituals:
In Madinah: Quba Mosque (the first mosque built in Islam), Mount Uhud, and the Qiblatain Mosque.
In Makkah: Jabal al-Noor (site of the Cave of Hira), the Makkah Museum, and the Kaaba’s surrounding historical markers.
None of this is required, but with a 10 or 14-night package, most pilgrims find they have time to see at least a few of these sites alongside their main rituals.
Picking Between the Packages
A few questions worth answering before you call:
What’s your budget per person? Have an existing quote? Use our beat my quote feature to see if we can offer a lower rate.
Are you travelling solo, as a couple, with family, or as a group?
Do you want a simple, central 3-star base, or extra comfort with a 4 or 5-star stay?
Would a 7-night trip suit your schedule better, or do you want the extra time a 10–14 night package gives you?
Are you planning autumn or winter travel? Compare with October Umrah packages or December Umrah packages.
If you’re stuck, tell us your priorities and we’ll suggest the closest match no pressure to book on the spot.
